- WHY: The Haymans know a little bit about gin. In fact, few gin enthusiasts would argue that James Burrough’s original Beefeater is the most iconic London Dry gin in the world, dating back to the 1860s when the former pharmacist purchased the Taylor & Son distillery in Chelsea. Today, the Hayman’s London Dry Gin is nod to the city’s golden days of gin distillation, bringing clean botanical notes with a freshness and zip that makes it perfect for any classic cocktail.
- HOW: Using juniper, coriander, Angelica root, lemon peel, liquorice, and other botanicals that are rooted in the classic London dry profile, Hayman’s once again distills at its original London location in Witham.
- WHAT: James Burrough’s had recipes for gin that dated back to the 1840s, including a blackcurrant gin, but it was his Beefeater expression that would go on to conquer the world. In 2013, while looking to bring their gin production back in-house, the Haymans purchased a Carl still from Germany and installed it at the family’s original Witham location, beginning distillation almost 150 years to the date James Burroughs had founded his own distillery and bringing the family business full circle.
